SUPPORTING STUDENT LEARNING OF LANGUAGE & CULTURE AS GLOBAL CITIZENS
|
Under the guidance of the World Languages Curriculum Council, a variety of languages and courses are provided throughout CNUSD. Current pathways include college preparatory, honors, and Advanced Placement courses at each of the five comprehensive high schools. All courses offered at the high schools are approved by the University of California Office of the President for "E" credit, "Language other than English." Several intermediate schools have courses that feed into the high school pathways.
In addition to incorporating the California Content Standards for World Language (2009), World Language teachers incorporate the California Common Core Literacy Standards (2010), encouraging all students to think critically and explore concepts in language, culture, and global citizenship.
One-year (10 credits) of a fine art or world language course is required for graduation from CNUSD.
