The overall purpose of the band program is to begin the study of a musical instrument and experience the pleasure of music through playing that instrument. Students develop self-confidence, responsibility, self-discipline, and teamwork. In addition, research shows there is a strong connection between learning an instrument and improved test scores and grades.
VanderMolen Band classes are 30 minutes long, twice a week in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR). All classes are during the school day and students are required to make-up any missed classwork, and practice at home. Students may also attend classes during their off-track days. Grades 5 and 6 only, Beginning and Advanced.
There will be Band Performances at Fall and Spring Assemblies for all levels, and Evening Performances for the Advanced Band members.

Instruments that can be played are:
Flute
Trumpet
Clarinet
Trombone
Alto Saxophone
Bells
~ Drums and other auxiliary percussion instruments will be played in the Advanced Band only and only if selected by the band instructor, Mrs. Andrade ~
